Why Start Therapy?
Life can feel especially confusing when your experience doesn’t match the “norm” you’ve been taught to strive for. You might have spent years masking, people-pleasing, or wondering why things that seem easy for others feel exhausting for you. Therapy can be a place to finally exhale.
You don’t have to explain away your sensitivity, your need for downtime, your deep emotions, or your questions about who you really are. In therapy, you get to explore those parts of yourself with curiosity—not judgment.
For many adults discovering new aspects of their identity later in life, whether that is due to healing from trauma or adjust to a new diagnosis, can be an exciting process or a difficult experience. Therapy becomes a space to reconnect with your truth, unlearn what was never yours, and begin making choices that feel aligned and sustainable.
You’re not broken. You’re becoming.
The Benefits of Therapy
Therapy can be a powerful tool for building the support you need to face life’s challenges. Choosing to begin therapy is an act of self-responsibility—a decision to shift what’s no longer working and reclaim a greater sense of autonomy in your life.
When you bring openness, curiosity, and a willingness to explore old patterns that may no longer serve you, therapy can offer profound benefits. Many clients experience:
Stronger, more authentic relationships
A deeper understanding of their emotions and needs
Increased self-compassion and empathy
It’s important to note: therapy isn’t about eliminating all anxiety or sadness. Those are valid responses to a world where systems of oppression—like ableism, sexism, and racism—still affect our daily lives. What can change is the way we relate to our experiences. Therapy helps us validate our emotions, respond with less guilt or shame, and care for ourselves with more gentleness and clarity.
“One day, you’ll tell the story of this season…not as someone who had everything figured out, but as someone who learned to live courageously right here.”
– Morgan Harper Nichols
