Specialties
Treatment Areas of Expertise include:
- Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
- EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. It is unique in that it does not require talking about the trauma. EMDR can be used solo to address trauma or integrated with KAP or psychotherapy based on the client’s needs and desires. There is a video to help with further understanding and a link to the EMDR’s international association’s website which will include research articles for your own research. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pkfln-ZtWeY&t=2s https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/=
- Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
- Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is offered in partnership with and only with an organization called Journey Clinical. Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) which is a holistic modality in which ketamine is used as a complement to psychotherapy to help eligible clients experience more frequent breakthroughs and sustained improvement in symptoms. I take on the psychotherapy portion of the experience, while Journey Clinical’s medical team supports you on all medical aspects. This includes determining eligibility, developing a custom treatment plan, prescribing the medicine and monitoring outcomes. - Later-in-Life
- An infrequently discussed area of distress for many are those making sense of “late-in-life” realizations. This can range from connecting to sexual orientation, a new diagnosis with ADHD or autism, or recognizing that the rules you’ve been living by were never actually yours to begin with.
- LGBT Issues
- As an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist not only do I dedicate effort in continuing education so that I may always support my openly queer clients, but I take special efforts in supporting clients who are coming into their identities later in life and those who have felt “straight passing.”
- Neurodivergence
- Whether there is a formal diagnosis or not, I support ADHD and autistic clients as they navigate the difficulties they face living in an ableist society. Being neurodivergent may come with many challenges such as overcoming burnout, learning how to unmask, and finding out how self-care and coping skills look for their unique brain.
- Trauma and PTSD
- It may be a singular or repeated experience, but these traumatic experiences can have long lasting detrimental effects on clients’ lives even when others view them as “resilient.” Through therapy and numerous supportive modalities clients can come out of survival mode and grow into the life they deserve.
